Amazon Additional Feature

Summary:

Implementing a gift exchange and wish list function into the existing app.

Tools and Programs: Figma

Duration: 2 weeks

Role: UI Designer

By including a feature of gift exchanges and wish listing directly on the app it would cut out many “middle-man” services. Whether users lean towards other competing applications such as Elfster or using other methods (i.e. drawing names from a hat, exchanging user notes, etc.) we would be able to increase web traffic leading to a greater amount of sales.

Goal:

Webflow

Low Fidelity

Prototypes

Team Wishlist

To avoid creating additional cards, simply adding an option in the existing UI is our initial solution. This leads us to where we can create new teams and edit ongoing teams. All while keeping this new feature with the current design system.

Viewing Exchanges

1. In viewing your own, we have the option to remove and add items, as well as include memos. Purposefully not including “add to cart” or “purchase items” in the viewing list.

There are two distinct differences in adding to your own and viewing your recipient's lists:

2. While on your recipient’s page, we have the option to ask anonymous questions, add to cart, or buy now. There are also different CTA’s if the item is no longer available or is located on an external page outside of the Amazon app.

Shopping Page

We kept the traditional shopping page UI. Including another CTA that’s as large as the “Add to Cart” or “Buy Now” button will not align with the current web hierarchy.

Adding to wish list will allow us to either;

1. Add to our existing wishlist

2. Add to an Existing Gift Exchange Team

Process and Continuation

Constraints

Having a competitor helped me focus on what features needed to be improved or included. Referring to it as a form of a content audit.

Mobile UI / Mobile Experience

Solution:

Integrate this feature onto the existing Amazon Application

Features to add:

Including a settings feature where we would be able to add a gift exchange limit.

Amazon Ember

This project was a personal project that came to fruition as the holiday seasons are rolling by. I wanted to challenge myself by including something that was a problem that I had come across myself and improve an application that I already use so often.

The biggest problem that I have come across was creating the already existing design system from scratch, from the color template, the fonts, and even designing the cards. I’d compare them side by side with the Amazon app open and ensure that I’m following the guidelines as close as possible!

This was satisfying to complete as it was a solo project and had learned so much from watching tutorials, as they’d give me insight and additional experience to add to my skillset.
